Comment on Shriners Burns Institute - Cincinnati, OH written by: Ruth S. 06/20/2013 1:52PM I was only 15 as a patient in your burn facility back in July,1981 and some things I remember as it was yesterday. Some things come and go but the memory of pain is always with you-not how much-but that it hurt as much as you ever remember anything hurting before in you life. Three things remain clear with me: A nurse named Keith - who was a dear, dear companion to me during them days, another of a young boy (around 2) who was also burndt) who parents had deserted him and was left to be cared for by his grandma-so I kind of took care of him and adopted him as my own while I was in the facility, and the other of a lady whose name was Elaine whose two twin boys were in ICU at the same time from being burndt at the same time who my other was room mates and became good friends with during our 2 1/2 months stay in Cincinnati. I would like if someone from your facility could get ahold of any of these people whoever they may be and ask them to contact me for each of their own reasons. It would mean a great deal to my mother and me.

I was the 144th patient at the old Shriners hospital which I believe was on Goodman Street back in 1966. After all these years I am sitting down and writing my story of all the venturers, journeys and unyielding pain that I endured on April 16, 1966. Because I was flown to the General Hospital before coming to yours I am looking for records that show what date I was admitted to your hospital as well as some other records. I also am looking for an address or a website to be able to contact General Hospital so that I can get medical records from them as well.
If you could help me out in any way I will be so grateful. Thank you for your time as I know that you all are extremely busy.

I was patient in the old Shriners hospital, (I was the 144th patient admitted to that hospital) I believe that it was on Goodman Street. I was burned in 1966 and after all these years I am now working on writing my book and I am trying to get information and medical records of when I was first admitted to the Shriners hospital. I was burned on April 16,1966 in Cedar Rapids Iowa and I was flown to the General Hospital in Cincinnati until a bed became available in the Shriners hospital. I am also trying to locate a address or a website for the General Hospital so that I can also contact them.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out with any information. Also, is there any way that I could get a picture of the old Shriners Hospital building?
